June 5, 2014 - World Day Against Internet Surveillance

Exactly one year after the publication of the first documents of Edward Snowden, several public organizations and websites organized a joint action Reset The Net in protest against the interception of Internet traffic by the special services.

Website owners are encouraged to put a splash screen on June 5 (although the code has not yet been published) with a list of free programs that are recommended for end-to-end encryption.

• Adium and Pidgin for secure chat ( OTR ) via Gtalk, Facebook, Yahoo, MSN, XMPP / Duck Duck Go and so on.
• Textsecure and Redphone for Android and iPhone, to protect SMS and voice conversations
• HTTPS Everywhere for browsers
• GPGtools and Enigmail for mail
• TOR for protection and anonymous surfing

Webmasters are calling for the inclusion of the default HTTPS standard for all visitors.

Reddit, Imgur, DuckDuckGo, BoingBoing and many other sites have already announced the support of the action organized by the fund Fight for the Future .

Regular users can join the protest in social networks , as well as start using cryptographic programs.

“There are moments in history when a person and an organization must choose: they are on the side of freedom or tyranny. On June 5, the Internet will show which side it is on, ”says Tiffiniy Cheng, founder of Fight for the Future.
