Even more - Intel has announced a project, the purpose of which, in essence, will be the creation of an ecosystem for home robots. In this case, the “ecosystem” means an application catalog, 3D printing models, accessories and much more.

The company has already introduced two types of "designers" to create robots.

The first set is intended for professionals, and professionals with money. For 16 thousand dollars you can get everything you need to create an advanced robot with an Intel Core i5-4250U processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, 32 GB SSD. This robot will be equipped with all possible ports and wireless communication modules.

In addition, the "robot for professionals", Jimmy, comes with the necessary set of software. In general, Jimmy is positioned not as a separate robot, but as a research platform for robotics, electronics engineers and other professionals.

As for the second robot / set, everything is easier here. Price - $ 1600, configuration - less productive. But there is the possibility of changing any part / node, with the subsequent reproduction of its refinement on a 3D printer. The platform is open, so that third-party developers can create any programs and accessories for this robot. A special catalog of applications, 3D-models for printing will be created (if you want to change the shape and appearance of your home assistant).

According to the authors of the project, all this will allow to form a new ecosystem, exclusively for robots. Hundreds and thousands of applications, new forms, details, the rapid development of "home" robotics can begin with this.
