3 projects of inexpensive mini-PCs with Indiegogo

It is safe to say that Raspberry Pi has become one of the most successful crowdfunding projects in electronics. Of course, the popularity of this device has caused the appearance of a number of similar projects, of which none has eclipsed the “raspberry”.

Nevertheless, interesting projects of this kind still appear, and some of them deserve to be described on Habré. I propose to evaluate 3 projects, each of which is now raising funds for Indiegogo.

AsiaRF AWM002 mini kit

The AWM002 is a miniature PC with a wireless 802.11n WiFi communication module, 8 MB of flash memory, 32 MB of RAM, USB, micro USB and Ethernet ports.

This project is based on the Ralink RT5350 platform, and this device itself is so small that the Ethernet port is the most prominent element of the whole structure. The size of this device is 1.4 * 1.1 inches.

Immediately it should be said that the developers offer both a fee without ports, and a set of fee + docking station. The kit is called the AWM002 mini kit.

It is planned to deliver the device with OpenWRT OS. The processor uses a 360 MHz MIPS processor.

The creators of AWM002 hope to collect only 6 thousand US dollars for the launch of mass production of the device. For early contributors, the AWM002 price is $ 15, after 50 pre-orders for that price, the price will be $ 23. Well, their devices "depositors" will receive in July 2014.

As far as can be understood, for $ 38, the depositor receives the fee + docking station (AWM002 mini kit).

WiFiDuino

This project is an Arduino-compatible board, with dimensions of 1.5 * 1 inch.

Developers offer three different versions of this system. There is a WiFi + Duino card with a 802.11b / g wireless communication module, a Duino + OLED without a wireless module, but with a 128 * 64 pixel OLED display, plus there is an advanced version of WiFi + Duino + OLED.

The developers hope to attract 23 thousand US dollars. Pre-order price is $ 29.

VoCore

This board uses a Ralink RT5350 chip with a 360 MHz MIPS processor, plus 8 MB of flash memory and 32 MB of RAM. Dimensions 0.95 * 0.95 inches.

This board is compatible with Ethernet, GPIO, USB, UART, JTAG interfaces. True, the board itself comes without the appropriate modules. True, you can buy a docking station (very small) with everything you need.

It is worth noting that the board supports WiFi and without a docking station.

Developers offer their device for electronics enthusiasts who can use this system to work with hard drives, printers, sound systems, cameras and everything else. In addition, based on this system, you can create a portable VPN router, as well as many other things.

The authors of the project have already attracted 46 thousand dollars instead of 6 thousand planned.

The product price is $ 20, and for $ 45 you can get a VoCore + docking station.
