Case that makes the space around the smartphone touch

Startup Fuffr introduced the concept cover for the smartphone, which allows you to use the surrounding space as a touch area in addition to the screen of the device itself. The inventors have demonstrated a working sample of the case for the iPhone.

The creators of the "smart" accessory is a group of engineers from Stockholm. They have also developed a free SDK. The cover prototype is able to recognize all standard gestures, including various multi-touch combinations. The invention allows to greatly increase the available sensory area, which not only improves the comfort of working with small smartphones, but also drastically improves the accuracy of control in a number of tasks.

For example, with such a cover it is much more convenient to make sketches, scroll through maps, etc.





According to the author of the review with Geek.com , the case uses its own sensors, not a smartphone. Data transfer is via Bluetooth LE. This assumption is confirmed by a flashing LED in the upper right corner of the case, which can be seen in videos.

This accessory will not soon be on sale, but I would like to hope that the inventors will be able to bring it to the commercial level. Indeed, such a simple and compact device can radically improve the functionality of the interfaces of almost any smartphone.
