iFixit translate into Russian?

image

Hi, Habr!

Great news from iFixit for us.

For those who do not know what kind of company

Short educational program. The rest can skip and watch the next part of the post.
')
Many people know iFixit for its teardowns - disassembling all the new products and finding out, a) what's inside and b) how easy it was to disassemble.

With beautiful photos, almost at the moment of the first sales, this is really very cool and interesting:

Also on their website you can find detailed instructions for self-modular repair:

What is less visible to us, but very good. It is actively used by English-speaking users - questions and answers, independent blogs on everything related to the repair of everything in the world (but mostly different devices):

Full-fledged modern Knowledge Base, sharpened for a specific topic.

On Habré there are not many (but not to say that few) articles about them. I can not say how well they are known here, but I was always interested in this company, because in some way was related to what i do.

What did I know?

I learned firsthand and this information is fairly accurate, although, of course, much more can change.
The bottom line is that, apparently, they are not entirely indifferent to the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, and in the near future (several months or a year) they are going to open here their stor and full-fledged representation.

At the first stage, they open the project of translating the interface of the site to everyone (hurray, we are overtaking China! UPD is not only China) on the well-known website www.getlocalization.com/ifixit :

Already, you can work with the wiki by adding Russian-language articles there that they promise to merge with the main ones (in this case, the main article is www.ifixit.com/Wiki/translator ).

For me personally, this is a very joyful event, since smartphones and tablets will soon be more common than PCs, and the information on the simplest diagnostics and repair that can be done and most often acquires myths.

Again, competent Knowledge Base with all the buns, such as rewards, questions / answers, etc., are closely interrelated with each other ... Of course, I would like to see it in the end right in Google or Yandex, but so far it will come to that.

I will not disclose the source, in order not to make advertisements to those who will represent them in Russia (in person for those who wish, for welfare).

While put in DIY, maybe there are still suitable hubs?

UPD
And, of course, you can join the translation project here , which I did.
See last UPD.

UPD2
Thanks to Habr, almost 25% were transferred overnight, overtaking all the languages translated by the community, not the developers. #Success!
I think that the most active contributors will rely on some kind of buns:

A country should know its heroes:

UPD3
Made a topic on iFixit Meta , where you can discuss the Russian translation.

There is a great helper when translating = ifixit.testfront.co
Shows all translated strings already in place in the interface:

You can also open it right inside GetLocalozation:

UPD 30.05 15:18
Translated more than half!
image

They come to work about 7-8 hours in Moscow. Interestingly, by this time have time to finish everything?

UPD 30.05 22:19
Overtook the Netherlands. At the finish. The special translation buffalo, ilyaluk, translated over 500 lines (sic!).
I managed to talk to their CEO Kyle Wiens (hurray!), He was pleasantly surprised :)

We discussed the difficulties of translating software into Russian in particular. After the finish, apparently, there will be some processing of the translated one and a decision on what to do next.

UPD 14.07
GetLocalization is no longer used. Moved to a more convenient platform Crowdin.
