MacBook Air hacked in two minutes

MacBook Air won the competition for the fastest hack , which was held as part of the CanSecWest hacker conference. Intel and Apple’s engineering marvel managed to be cracked in a record two minutes.

The competition was attended by three popular laptop models with different operating systems and all the latest patches:
* VAIO VGN-TZ37CN under Ubuntu 7.10
* Fujitsu U810 for Vista Ultimate SP1
* MacBook Air under OSX 10.5.2

Under the terms of the contest, it was necessary to use a previously unknown exploit to get into the system and read the contents of the specified file. On the first day of the competition, access to computers was allowed only over the network and no one could hack into the system. On the second day, the rules became freer and it was already allowed to open email messages and access malicious sites.

Like last year , the fastest managed to hack a MacBook. The winner was Charlie Miller, the one who hacked the iPhone one of the first. Charlie received a deserved $ 10,000 and a hacked laptop as the main prize. Under the terms of the competition, it is prohibited to spread information about the created exploit.
