Strooder: recycling 3D printing waste at home (waste => work material)

Only yesterday on Habré there was news about the next 3D printer , which seems to be all good. And the price is interesting and practical, and it looks good. But no matter how perfect a 3D printer is, after its work, waste remains - plastic, trimming, or scrap production.

In principle, as soon as such devices appeared, I had a thought that it is a pity that there is no possibility to recycle 3D printing waste (or not waste, but created figures and parts that are tired / not needed). And so - the other day at Kickstarter launched a campaign to raise funds for the mass production of "recycling waste 3D printing." The device was named Strooder.

Recycling is carried out in an understandable way - heating plastic waste to an amorphous state, with further pushing the plastic through a nozzle, to obtain a thread of a certain diameter.

The developers have provided the necessary security measures, eliminating the possibility of human contact with the heating elements. In addition, Strooder can work with different types of plastic, at the output getting a thread for various 3D printers. The thickness of the thread can be customized by selecting one of three options: 1.75mm, 2.85mm and 3mm.

The container for waste includes about a liter of plastic.

These are the toys that come with the printer (something like a set of gears, everything is spinning and working).

It is worth noting that in just a couple of days the campaign gained more money than planned (29 thousand pounds instead of 20 thousand). The developers promise to add different buns, if it will be collected more than 50 thousand pounds.

True, the price of the device is not very attractive. This device + 100 grams of plastic waste to it can be obtained for £ 199 (the developer is an English office). Well, for 229 pounds you can get a Strooder with 5 kg of plastic. Currently, 100 USD = 59.68 pounds.

Probably, the device is suitable either for individual enthusiasts who do not care how much to pay, or for design and construction offices, which print a lot of things, and there is also a lot of waste.

Here is how it all looks and works:
