MOD-t: 3D printer for all for $ 249

On Habré regularly published news, articles and reviews of 3D printers. So far, most of the models available for purchase have those or other disadvantages. This may be the complexity of the setting, high cost, noise, impracticality, poor-quality printing or all of this together.

Recently began to appear cheap printers from the series "for all." These devices are already configured, it is not necessary to assemble and configure 3 days after buying the printer. Today, by the way, a campaign was launched on Indiegogo to raise funds for the launch of a very inexpensive and attractive-looking 3D printer: MOD-t.

In just a few hours, the campaign has already attracted more than 180 thousand US dollars (at the time of writing), and by the end of the fees another 36 days. Now the special offer is still available for $ 199, but at the very beginning there was the opportunity to issue a pre-order for just $ 149. In general, such devices are planned to sell for $ 249 .

According to the developers, they wanted to create a printer to work with which an ordinary person does not need to delve into materials science, studying at what temperature a certain type of plastic melts, for example. Everything is set up from scratch, and the user only needs to connect the printer to the network, filling it with consumables.

In addition, a catalog of 3D models is created specifically for this printer, where, according to the developers, there will be everything that can be useful. True, it is a little unclear whether it is possible to use third-party models, not from the catalog.

Nevertheless, the developers promise the possibility of modifying their models, including changing the shape, color, and everything else that can be changed.

By the way, the ideological inspirer of the project has been carrying out his idea for more than 10 years. Back in 2000, he wanted to create a similar printer, but then such things were extremely expensive, and it would hardly have been possible.

Here are the technical specifications of the device:

Here is a comparison with other 3D printers:

Minimum tolerance when working is selected in the printer application, it is 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4 mm. The design uses a biaxial system that improves the speed and accuracy of work, as well as the quality of the parts produced.

In general, an interesting device, for a very modest price. It seems that any student can afford such a printer, if, of course, the device will cost $ 249 at home, and not two, or even three times more expensive.
