Appeal to the Springpad community ,

We are very sorry to inform you that the Springpad will be closed on June 25th. Unfortunately, we could not find additional funding or go to self-sufficiency. In the process of closing, part of our team will go to Google.

Our most important task at the moment is to help you save your data.
Today we released a tool for export. This service has the ability to export data to Evernote, HTML and JSON. You can learn more about these features in the next paragraph or on springpad.com/savemystuff

Your data is available for transfer and export until June 25th. After this date, springpad.com will be unavailable, synchronization will stop working and your data will be deleted.

We understand that the transition can be difficult for many of you and we will try to help you as much as we can. If you have questions, please visit support.springpad.com

Details of export and migration features

1) Transition to Evernote
Together with the Evernote team, we developed a service for smoothly transferring data to a new or existing Evernote account. Data will be available for synchronization as soon as you transfer it to the Evernote service. With the help of Evernote you can also collect and organize the desired information - notes, links, recipes, photos.

We repeat, you can start migrating to springpad.com/savemystuff or learn more at support.springpad.com

2) Export data to HTML
We also recommend downloading your information in HTML (springpad.com/savemystuff). The data will be saved as a zip archive on your computer.

Export to HTML includes:

Local copy of your information. You can search among downloaded files by tag, notepad or type. Once you download your archive to a computer, you can view its contents using a browser without an internet connection.

One directory for all your photos, files and other attachments.

The archive also includes a JSON file for importing into other services.

3) JSON file for import to other services

The downloaded archive also includes a JSON file. The file can be imported using programmers or a special application. Developers who want to make their service to import a JSON file can learn more at the link: github.com/springpartners/springpad-export

From myself, I note that the Springpad is not the first among popular services that could not stand the competition. Before this was, for example, Catch. Catch a year ago also made an export to Evernote and waved a pen.

It is a pity, but apparently what made these services (Springpad and Catch) attractive makes them also noncompetitive. Namely - free. For many, Evernote was not popular because it did not have the ability to synchronize for free accounts and had too high a price for paid ones.
From myself, I note that there are still some free alternatives from the giants (for example, Microsoft Onenote or Google Drive). But no one is protected.

I wish the Springpad team further success. Many of my entourage used this service.
