Google released its own model of the robot car

As part of the project to create unmanned vehicles, Google has released a new model of a mini car without steering and pedals. They do not need the car of the future, which independently moves along a given route. There is only a button to start / stop the engine.

Removing the steering wheel and pedals from a car is the most important measure for road safety. The compact design of the double minikar improves the panoramic view for the roof lidar. Own design allowed Google to optimize the placement of sensors on the body and add new ones.

The speed of the first prototype is limited to 40 km / h. The car is designed with the expectation of comfort and cheapness, and not on the prestigious appearance. On the dashboard - two buttons and a navigator screen. In addition to the steering wheel and pedals, there are no rear-view mirrors, “glove box” and stereo system.

In the near future, Google will produce several hundred of these machines, and by the end of the summer will begin testing them.



The current legislation prohibits traveling on the road without a rudder, so that the first versions of the prototype will still be equipped with manual control.
