Hello.
On Thursday, September 17, CodeFreeze will meet in Moscow with
Artem ximaera Gavrichenkov , an expert from Qrator. It will be a question of
DDoS-attacks : their types, scales and ways of counteraction.
')
Attacks to denial of service, or DoS attacks, appeared more than 15 years ago and recently are widely heard that shops, newspapers and online media, government portals are attacked ... Journalists are used to writing colorful reports about such incidents, which people like to pour in figures like “the attack power reached tens of gigabits per second” or “hundreds of servers all over the world took part in the attack”.
The problem with these numbers is that they are abstract. 20-30 Gbit / s is a lot for the site, but for a large Internet provider it is everyday. In 2013, Steve Ballmer announced that Microsoft has 1 million servers, so, apparently, companies like Microsoft and Sony should not experience problems with parasitic traffic from hundreds of other servers - but in practice this is not confirmed.
In the report, we will try to “beat” these parameters to reality and determine what DoS attacks are, how they are built from the inside and how companies specializing in countering DoS cope with dozens of gigabits and hundreds of servers.
- History of the term. What is the difference between DoS and DDoS attacks?
- DDoS attacks from the point of view of information security experts, risk assessment;
- Types of attacks and their classification;
- Counteraction for each type of attack;
- DDoS attacks on the Internet of the future: how will IPv6, IoT and the growth of the number of network participants affect its network, security?

Come to listen to Artem live and ask him your questions!
To warm up - this is his
megapost about the reflection of DDoS-attacks on Habr
PS: There will be no live video feed, but there will be video recording. If it turns out cool - we will definitely post it on a habr.
