Mihai Parparita (Mihai Parparita), one of the programmers at Google, wrote a wonderful program on Python, which performs a comprehensive analysis of the entire archive of your Gmail mail.
Mail Trends downloads the headers of all emails from the server, and then generates an HTML page with a lot of interesting charts: here you can see your email traffic statistics by year, month, day of the week and time of day; the size of the letters; the most active senders (with the activity change chart) and more.

Statistics are periodically updated by IMAP. It turns out a certain analogue of
Search History Trends , but only for your personal mail.
To run Mail Trends, you need to have
Python installed, as well as
Cheetah templates.
