Do I need a separate hub on IT terminology at Habrahabr?

Antorix blogger posted in the Yandex hub a blog entry “Yandex.Money? Yandex money? Yandex money? Yandex money? ” (July 25, 2011), which readers greeted with approval (rating +33 ).

The same blogger published in the Google hub the blog entry “ Why are we ashamed of Google? ”(August 12, 2011), which readers met with even greater approval (rating +232 ).

Last night, the same blogger advertised his blog (“ Notes of the grumbling translator ”), and it can be noted that this saddens the audience a lot: why, they say, this translator writes his own notes about translations of IT terminology not in Habrahabr .

But in what hub would it be possible to publish and discuss such reasoning on Habrahabr? Here, you know, the main problem. After all, it is clear that the terminology of Google and Yandex Antorix was previously able to rightly criticize at Habrahabr because, by the way, hubs of the same name turned up by these companies. And this could not happen. It seems to me, therefore, that a separate hub devoted to IT terminology wouldn’t hurt at Habrahabré - and it was terminology in general (and not just translations), because sometimes you want to raise the question not only about how to translate this or that term or another language into Russian), but also the question of how to name this or that new IT product of completely domestic origin (and just the argument about Yandex.Money can serve as an example of this second option).

At once I will say that Antorix , in any case, is not the only one on Habrahabr who loves searching and discussing a translation or a term, bright and capacious, able to be remembered and imposed on the mind. For example, we can recall how the translation of “ multi-touch ” for the term “multi-touch” was invented by Sergey Moskalenko in 2007 for the article “ Ritual dances around the iPhone ”, and in Habrahabr it was first popularized by murr ( in March 2009 ), then I ([ 1 ], [ 2 ], and others.). Sometimes more than one and a half hundred comments cause one or another translation, and at least half of them are not without interest.

That is why it would be desirable to have a separate hub, in which one could always argue or read about how to call the Oculus Rift (is it a helmet? Are there any glasses? Anything else?), With which the name “ nyash-mesh ” differs , what translations of the term “ cross-platform ” or “hands-free” into Russian are possible and why transliteration has taken root instead of them?
