Tron fan created for himself a virtual reality with the help of 3 Kinect and Oculus Rift

Seeing Tron back in 1985, Oliver Kreylos immediately became a fan of virtual reality. But only now, in 2014, he managed to realize (albeit partially) his dream in reality, creating his own virtual reality and introducing himself into the created world.

Of course, this required hardware and software, including three Microsoft Kinect and Oculus Rift. Three Kinects are used to scan the space, and broadcast the mixed stream to the virtual world.

This is done so that the author sees himself in virtual reality - his hands, his gadgets, his clothes. Of course, the image is not particularly "even", but this is a matter of technology and improvement of the result.

Among other things, Oliver furnished his virtual world with the same virtual furniture, which is displayed in the Oculus Rift. According to the author of the project, it all looks very realistic, and, walking through the virtual room, Oliver tried very hard not to bump into non-existent furniture, and he did it unconsciously.

The data processing and virtual world generation system was built on a PC with Linux (8 GB of RAM), Geforce GTX 770 graphics and an Intel Core i7 processor.

Oliver is currently planning to improve his project in order to make the images even more realistic.
