Half-Life 2 and Portal became available on NVIDIA SHIELD
NVIDIA has officially announced the expansion of the line of games for the portable Android-console SHIELD on two new projects.
Console owners will now be able to purchase and play Android versions of PC hits such as Half-Life 2 and Portal, which Valve developed. The news of porting Portal's famous logical puzzle to the Android platform has been going on for several days (and even the exact release date was called), however, there was no reliable information about Half-Life 2 - only special “leaks” in the form of a salmon-colored western-style souvenir mount from unambiguous inscriptions and logos. And finally, the "veil of secrecy" was asleep - both games appeared on Google Play. ')
NVIDIA did an outstanding job of porting Half-Life 2 and Portal to SHIELD.Now we can play both games on the SHIELD console, and fans of both franchises can see the same gameplay they love on the PC. - says Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing for Valve.
But the main disappointment is the game only for the NVIDIA Shield console ( my colleague andrey_snegovik did a review on it ). Given the complexity of management in these games, it can be assumed that this limitation is not due to relatively “heavy” (as for mobile systems) graphics, namely the implementation of management - in the case of Shield, during porting, you can almost exactly reproduce the “gamepad” management option due to the presence of hardware buttons and joysticks, while for tablets and smartphones you would have to enter virtual buttons - and how convenient it would be, anyone who tried to play first-person shooter on the board can imagine shete.
