Tekhnobank refuses to recognize itself as a violator of the WebMoney Transfer Code

The Belarusian guarantor of the WebMoney Transfer system of Tekhnobank OJSC commented on the fact that the wmtransfer.by website was hacked. Recall that the main WM site in Belarus was infected with malware and distributed it among users for at least several hours.

From the official commentary it follows that the infection did not occur on Sunday, but on Friday, March 14, 2008. Visitors to the site "could have been exposed to a Trojan code embedded on some pages of the site for several hours," according to a statement from Tekhnobank. After the first client received a message about warnings issued by Kaspersky Anti-Virus software, measures were taken by the bank and the hosting provider, which allowed restoring the site to normal operation by mid-day.

TechnoBank notes that many antiviruses consider Internet pages with such code as only “potentially dangerous”.

According to Tekhnobank, despite the seriousness of the incident, due to the payment processing system and authorization system provided for on the website, the effect of the Trojan code could in no way affect the security of payments made by customers and the execution of Guarantor functions in WebMoney. The effects of the code on computers or confidential information of customers of the site were not noted. Accordingly, clause 3.3.1 and clause 3.3.3 of the WebMoney Transfer Code of Tehnobank OJSC were not violated, according to Tehnobank.
