Many automakers are now creating their own cars with the "autopilot", which allows the driver
to read the book on the road to relax. Such a car, the most famous of which is made in Google, itself monitors the workload of the track, controls speed itself, bends around obstacles or stops.
In general, Volvo has long been working to create its own robot car, and now this work is in the testing phase. The “Drive Me” project team, this is the name of the corresponding division of the company, is testing the S60 cars with autonomous driving on real roads in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden.
')
It is in this city that the headquarters of the company is located, so the choice is clear. The general route for the test is 50 kilometers.

And the testing system itself is to check the ability of such a car to keep a certain lane on the road, change the speed, monitor the traffic on the road, and react accordingly.

Ideally, such a system will drive a car instead of a driver who can actually read a book / flip through his presentation, as shown in the photo.

Gradually, such systems will be introduced into the company's vehicles, starting with the XC-90 model, which will be released later this year. However, in the first models only advanced cruise control and a system for detecting the edge of the road will be implemented. Over time, the "autopilot" in conventional cars will become more and more perfect. Well, the current test will show how all this will work in the near future.
It should be noted that in the framework of the project “Drive Me” it is planned to manufacture 100 test cars, now the first copies are being tested.
