The activities of approximately 120 online stores were analyzed last Friday by research company Nielsen / NetRatings.
This day is called “Black Friday” because it is the beginning of the month of Christmas sales, during which consumer activity is particularly high.
Compared to 2005 figures, online shopping traffic grew by 12%. The most visited site on this day was eBay (7.5 million people), Amazon.com (3.4 million) went second, and the Wal-Mart network of supermarkets (3.2 million) ranked third.
