I want to talk about the smartphone Highscreen Zera S on a 4-core MTK6582m processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz. As always, the review contains detailed photos, camera shooting examples, tests, and my exploitation impressions.
This is my first acquaintance with Highscreen phones. Despite the scandals with feminists, this brand is gaining popularity in Russia. Phones of this brand have a good design and functionality for a relatively low price.

I would like to immediately note that the model was created as part of a new strategy for developing brand products. It implies a transition from ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) to a 100% OEM device development scheme, that is, to the creation of new models “from scratch” by Highscreen specialists.
The smartphone uses a 4-core processor MTK6582m, operating at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. In addition, the phone is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of main memory, expandable with microSD memory cards. Screen resolution Highscreen Zera S is 540 x 960 pixels with a diagonal of 4.5 inches.

When this device came into my hands, I was surprised at the quality of the packaging.
Solid cardboard without colorful patterns and tricks. The front side shows a “sectioned” smartphone and a company logo, and logos are also printed on the side faces. At the bottom of the manufacturer put information about cloud storage 4Sync.
With this phone comes 64 gigabytes of cloud storage. Everything is simple and harmonious.
Opening the box, we immediately see the phone. The screen has already been applied factory protective film under the information label.
Completion is very standard: USB cable, charger, headphones, warranty card and user manual. The charger unit always glows blue, and the cable has a rather interesting feature. Depending on the charge, it glows red (when the smartphone is charging) or blue (when the battery is charged).
A branded headset is not a music lover’s dream, of course, but it is suitable for everyday use.
The developers and designers of the company did their best. The smartphone looks strictly but attractive. There are no extra details, but there is something unusual about it. The case is made of soft-touch plastic, which protects the phone from scratches and plus everything is pleasant to the touch.
Just below the screen are function buttons with LED backlighting.
On top of the speaker, front camera, light sensor, as well as the LED that lights up when connected via USB-cable, or charging.

In general, ergonomics are standard, like most modern phones. Zera S model has the author's design, developed in the company Highscreen. It is a “cocktail”, the ingredients of which are taken from the best flagship smartphones of 2013 (rectangular frame of the front, like the HTC 8x, design of the main camera, like the Nokia Lumia 1520, logo pressed into the case, like the Nexus 5). The result was quite a pleasant appearance of the device.
The phone is equipped with a 4.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display, with a high contrast IPS matrix. It has a resolution of 540x960 pixels, with a pixel density of 275 PPI.
The display is made by technology OGS. One glass solution is a technology that integrates the display and the sensor / glass into one, which will reduce the thickness of the device, make the image clearer and increase sensitivity. The screen cover is made of tempered glass.
The screen is very bright, the image clarity is good. Also pleased with the viewing angles.
Supports multitouch up to 5 touches inclusive and the ability to transfer an image to another device. A nice bonus is the presence of a light sensor, which very well adjusts the brightness of the lighting.
Opening the phone cover, we see that everything is done with high quality and neat. The PCB is covered with a plastic cover, fastened with small screws. No backlash or gaps are observed.
The bottom of the case is occupied by a battery, which, by the way, is of a small capacity, but more on that later.
Above there are slots for SIM cards, with one of them for miniSIM.
There is also a slot for microSD.
The main camera at 5MP with autofocus, shoots very well, and focuses at a distance of 2-3 cm, perfectly removes small details. Front 2MP (for video calls this is even a lot). The clarity and color reproduction of the image are at a good level. Photos from the main camera.
The maximum resolution of the photograph is 2880x1728 pixels. The speed of the camera is average, the sound of the shutter during shooting can not be disabled.

Naturally the camera can shoot video. The maximum resolution of the video has increased to FullHD resolution at 30 frames per second. Record format 3gp. Video quality to match the photos.
Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is installed on this device with minimal rework.
The menu is quite standard. There is the possibility of updating by air.
There are no necessary or unusual programs in the smartphone. In addition, 4Sync is a 64 GB cloud storage.

Zera S supports USB-OTG function. If you have a USB-OTG cable, you can connect a USB flash drive and select it as the main memory of the smartphone. You can also connect: keyboard, mouse or joystick.
The phone supports Wi-Fi standard 802.11 b / g / n. There are no complaints about his work.
GPS as in many phones on MTK processors requires adjustment, I chose the easiest option, since I don’t have a shortage of internet.
GPS + AGPS setup:
1. Menu - Settings - Location data - I do not accept
2. Tab on the phrase "GPS satellites", turn on A-GPS
3. Install the GPS Test program from the market, in the settings of this program: Clear AGPS, Update AGPS
5. After 10 seconds, the window finds 8-10 satellites.
Declared simultaneous operation of 2x SIM cards, both can call and receive calls and SMS. Whatever you call, you are always in touch, Internet 3G + on the big sim card. "Caller" from the standard Android, in fact, like the "typing" SMS.
Bluetooth works very quickly, in some sources they write that it is version 4.0. Problems with the connection of wireless headphones has not been identified. There is also an FM receiver.
Performance is not bad for the device in this price range. Nevertheless, not many state employees can boast of such results.
In graphics tests, the device showed itself well.
It is very pleasant to play: without hangs and brakes.
When playing fairly heavy games, the processor is expected to warm up, but without noticeable hand discomfort.
The claimed battery capacity is 1800 mAh, however the phone keeps charging very well. With active use, the device works 1.5-2 days from a single charge (the small diagonal of the screen plays a significant role).
Work in mixed mode (calls, Internet, video, games) will defuse the smartphone in about 11 hours. In the video playback mode (with the sound and screen brightness at maximum) the device lasts 5 hours.
Currently, there is a huge range of devices in this price group on the market, but there are very few really high-quality devices. Zera S combines the elegance and functionality of top models, but its price is very democratic. If you want to buy a simple and small phone with warranty and support, but do not want to spend a lot of money, then you can pay attention to the Highscreen Zera S smartphone.
