The smallest pen for 3D drawing

People are actually ready to paint in the air. We are gesticulating during a conversation and trying to illustrate our words by depicting different figures with our hands. 3D pens allow you to turn these gestures into tangible, visible objects. The idea of ​​such a device is no longer new, but the current implementation is still far from perfect. Recently, a new 3D pen project appeared on Kickstarter. LIX Pen is small and consumes little energy.



Its length is 16.4 cm, diameter 1.4 cm, weight 35 g. Aluminum housing. For work, it is enough to connect to the computer with a wire with a 3.5 mm plug. Printing consumables are based on plant PLA fibers, more durable ABS plastic can also be used. The material is heated to 150 degrees C. The consumables are fed from the opposite end of the handle and in the form of a melt are fed to the writing unit. On air, the material quickly hardens, which allows you to create three-dimensional contour objects.

The length of each supply rod is 10 cm, it lasts for about 2 minutes of “drawing”. The quality and clarity of the result of such a 3D printing depends only on the hardness of your hands, because the rate of solidification of the material is not too high.
