Developer gaia stopped working on the project

Gaia - an open-source program that worked based on data from the Google Earth service, has ceased to exist. The developer of the program published a letter from a Google representative on November 25, received by a Google representative, stating that the use of Google Earth features in third-party applications is unacceptable.

The fact is that Google uses data from third-party companies that are provided on certain conditions that do not allow the use of this data in other developments. Thus, according to the letter, the gaia project may in the future endanger the existence of Google Earth.

The project developer has deleted all the distributions of the program from his site and asks users to remove this application from their computers.

Google's attention to gaia is due to a simple thing: the fact is that last week a message about this program appeared on the Google Operating System blog (unrelated to Google). Apparently, this blog is under the scrutiny of the company.
