Last Friday,
BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate announced the creation of an application that can monitor all household appliances in the house. Its name is
Home Connect , and a distinctive feature will be that it will be able to control devices of different brands and companies. Bosch said this application is the first of its kind.
The main reason for the development of this application was that 90% of families have appliances made by more than one brand. The announcement was made at the IFA press conference in Belek, Turkey.
IFA is an annual event dedicated to consumer electronics and home appliances, held in Berlin in September. The Home Connect app debuts there, along with the first plug-in appliances from Bosch b Siemens. The project manager is Dr. Claudia Happ, who presented the Home Connect demo application in Belek, in a presentation entitled “One app. For you. She talked about plans for further development.
To use Home Connect, you must have a smartphone, Wi-Fi router to connect to home appliances and register on the site. Data exchange between the application and the connected home appliances occurs using the Home Connect protocol. All necessary data is stored anonymously on a dedicated server. At the technological level, according to Dr. Happ, they collaborated with “selected partners” to create a “comprehensive security concept.”

Home Connect will be available on iOS later this year; Android version will be ready in early 2015.
“Our connectivity solution is one step at a time,” says Dr. Happ.
In the article, in the magazine Forbse, Happ said that about 90% of families have different brands of equipment and that, based on BSH research, 66% of consumers want to control their devices with a single application.

BSH noted that “in Germany there are more than 36,000,000 smartphone users, while the market is filling at a breakneck pace with technical devices that connect to the world wide web. This opens the way to creating new services, and Home Connect is precisely adapted to the needs of the client. "
