The user StackOverflow under the nickname Mysticial has published a rather concise, but comprehensive explanation of why the site has so many negative comments and swearing. This explanation is for StackOverflow, but similar “hate schemes” can be compiled for almost any community on the Internet. Of course, each community will have a different scheme.
In general, Mysticial writes, there are four user groups on StackOverflow:
"Caretakers" for whom it is important to maintain the site in good form with high-quality content.
Help Vampires that litter the site with bad / repetitive questions. They only need an answer to their question - and nothing more.
“Boot Responders” that respond to everything they can (and they can't)
Those who do not care.
Four circles are not mutually exclusive, that is, individual users can belong to more than one category. But the most interesting thing is how exactly the representatives of these circles interact with each other, here almost literally from the publication Mysticial. ')
2 and 3 love each other. They should get married.
1 hates 2, because they litter the site, so the question with good answers can not be found.
1 hates 3, because they encourage 2 to further actions in the same vein.
2 hates 1 because 1 constantly minus / close / delete / scold their messages.
3 hates 1 because they continue to close / delete the questions they like to answer.
1 and 3 have all the moderation rights, but only 1 cares about their application.
4 sits on the sidelines and chews popcorn
1 hates 4 because they do not help.
In the comments to this post on StackOverflow, a picture is posted that illustrates this painful relationship.
When there is so much malice in the community, the situation is heating up by itself. And here you can not say that the problem is in the site. It seems that people will always find a reason to hate each other.
