Yandex.Money Card Inside - MasterCard PayPass

Recently, banks started issuing one-touch Visa / MasterCard cards - PayPass, by radio. It was interesting for me to see how it works - so I ruthlessly “disassembled” the MasterCard Yandex.Money card. The results of the autopsy - under the cut.

It will also be interesting to assess the complexity and technology of the production of the "card" chip, in the light of current conversations about the "national payment systems."

')
The first layer of the card is dissolved in acetone. Now the antenna has become visible:

The chip itself: 2 contacts go to the antenna, 5 - for physical connection. By the way, the card can be seen on the Android phone with NFC, identified as Type A (ISO / IEC 14443-4 Smart Card and ISO / IEC 7816-4 - Proximity Payment System Environment). Accordingly, the chip works like subway tickets - at a frequency of 13.56 MHz, receiving power at the same frequency.

The microcircuit itself is larger:

The entire surface of the microcircuit is closed by metallization, so that it would be impossible to interfere into the operation of the microcircuit without additional difficulties:

I accidentally crumbled the chip from the first card when I tried to tear it off, the second chip was covered with black bloom during the etching: the toli were mixed in the glass, so I made a mistake.

Nevertheless, we still managed to see the static and flash memory, estimate their size and technology: on a chip about 2.5kB SRAM, 32kB flash, production technology ~ 350nm:

So there are no special supertechnologies here, for comparison, micron chips for the metro turn out to be even more modern technologically (180nm, working at the same frequency of 13.56 MHz - although the protocol there is certainly easier by orders of magnitude).

Ps. Are there any readers from Yandex.Money support / security service? Please write to me in the mail from the work address, there was a question about your part.
