Who paid for a wireless license of $ 19.6 billion?

The FCC auction for the sale of licenses for the use of radio frequencies for wireless communications is officially completed . It became the most profitable in US history and brought the state a record amount of $ 19.6 billion. Most interestingly, two days after the end of the auction, the winner is still unknown. Representatives of the FCC promised to publish official results in the coming days, but have not yet done so.

The main participants in the auction were the two giants of mobile communications AT & T and Verizon, as well as the Internet company Google. These three experts are named among the most likely winners of the auction, the initial rate of which amounted to $ 4 billion.

According to experts, Google was unlikely to intend to bargain above the minimum $ 4 billion mark, because the company had already won thanks to the fact of participation in the auction (under pressure from Google, the FCC commission changed the rules of national wireless networks and guaranteed the ability to connect to any type of devices from any manufacturer). However, now we know the closing price of the auction and it was much higher than expected. It became clear that the trade was very hot, and then the question arises: maybe Google did take part in this action, because you can expect anything from this company? One way or another, we will soon find out.
