New "SKIF MSU" 22nd in the Top 500 supercomputers

Now, after the completion of the construction of the SKIF MSU supercomputer , the University. MV Lomonosov boasts the most powerful computing system in Russia, the CIS countries and Eastern Europe. Built on a base of 625 modular servers with 1250 quad-core Intel Xeon E5472 processors.

The peak performance of SKIF MSU is 60 TFlops. The actual performance (Linpack test) is slightly lower - 47.07 TFlops. But this result to the “Lomonosov” supercomputer was enough to get into the world rating by 22 position. And, judging only by supercomputers used in the field of education, and on the 7th. Of course, not BlueGene / L with its 480 TFlops, but quite worthy.

It is clear that such equipment was not created for getting into the ratings. Therefore, leading scientists of both Moscow State University and several academic institutions are already working on the new SKIF MSU.
