Naptha is a very useful Chrome extension that automatically recognizes text on all pictures uploaded to the browser. With this extension, you can edit the text in the pictures, select, copy and translate it. This is an indispensable extension for copying text from scanned documents, photos, posters, diagrams, graphs, screenshots and even comics.
The idea of creating such an extension was born from
the xkcd comic , in which sites were played up that did not allow to arbitrarily select text on their web pages.

Ironically, the xkcd website can also be attributed to the number of "offenders", because it does not allow to highlight text inside comics. The Naptha extension fixes this flaw.

The developers say that the Stroke Width Transform algorithm used in the extension is capable of recognizing even ragged squiggles as text. This feature can be considered as a bug or a feature.
By the way, Naptha works for any files, including pictures on the HDD: you just need to drag the desired image into the browser window.
