Charger from body heat

Hi, Habr!

One of the weak points of portable devices, including smart watches and smartphones, is the period of work without recharging. Of course, it would be better to forget about recharging them at all, as about the need to turn the watch on with the car factory.

But what to use as an energy source? Hat with a solar battery? An atomic nuclear reactor? At the Korean Institute of Advanced Science and Technology decided to use the heat of the human body to charge. A group of scientists has already developed a lightweight and flexible generator made of thermoelectric material.

Thermoelectric generators made from inorganic materials have a capacity higher than those made from organic ones. The problem is that they are tighter and larger. The development of Korean scientists is focused on solving these problems: fiberglass, on which the generator is printed, reduces heat loss and increases energy output. This is confirmed by an article published by the institute. Also, the development team noted that their creation can be used in vehicles, including aircraft.

Byung Jin Cho, leader of the development team:
This is a revolutionary approach to generator design. We were able to significantly reduce the weight of our generator - and this parameter is an important element for wearable electronics.

That's just about when we see this development in real gadgets, we are not informed.
