Bringing electronics back to life - we wash off dust and force out water
Hello to all users!
Long time we did not tell about our decisions. Correct. Today we will talk about the two main enemies of any electronic device - dust and water and our ways of dealing with them.
Is the graphics card very dusty? ')
Turn off the computer, unscrew the wall, remove the board, turn on the vacuum cleaner ... Long, uncomfortable, dust column ...
There is another way - “wash off” the dust. This method is especially convenient when it comes to expensive e-stuffing, which, moreover, is not easy or even impossible to dismantle. At the same time, the accumulation of dust on it can lead to a short circuit and breakage. And it often turns out that this is not a breakdown at all, but contacts have become dusty and short.
Rinse off dust should dielectric fluid, which, in this case, leaves no residue on the surface and evaporates quickly. And also does not burn. At the same time, the dust does not scatter on all sides, but it is “transferred” to the substituted sponge by the directed flow or simply quickly flows from the part being cleaned.
For example, one of my friends knocked the dashboard in the car. The light has stopped turning on, but it should. He did not begin to remove the panel or contact the service, but washed it with a means for washing the contacts. Just sent a spray of aerosol in the hole under the panel. Earned.
Further more. At one of the mines, frequency converter displays were out of order. Some such:

They were taken out and, without disassembling (!), Washed with contact cleaner. Of the six earned four. For the two remaining, apparently, just did not have enough spray :)
And if you need to clean the inside of the electrical cabinet from dust? Switchgear?
You can also use contact cleaner. In this case, you can not turn off the voltage, since the liquid, I repeat, is a dielectric. Also, it does not spoil the plastic and does not wash away the markers.

And so, instead of accumulating and then trying to blow off the dust, wash it off - without disconnecting the device from the network!
Also contact cleaner will cope with pollution from low viscosity, "light" mineral oils and silicones.
Such contaminants and dust should be periodically removed when servicing airplanes, dashboards of both civil and military aircraft.
What to do if your favorite iPhone drowned?
Or spilled tea on your favorite mouse? Or the keyboard? Or a stereo?
It is better to try to quickly disconnect from the voltage and remove the water. And it flows into any gap, even into the smallest - under the influence of capillary forces.
And wait for it to evaporate from there ... corrosion is inevitable.
There is an easier way to dry it ... with a contact cleaner.
Hydrofluoroether, firstly, does not mix with water, secondly, it has a much lower surface tension and viscosity. He simply quickly penetrates into any, the smallest holes and displace moisture from there.
Electronics saved!
If a certain amount of stronger solvents, including isopropyl alcohol, are added to the hydrofluoroether, we obtain an excellent flux remover. At the same time, the aerosol remains a non-combustible azeotropic mixture!
Flux remover
It works well on alcohol-rosin and runout-free fluxes, but it is better to wash it off immediately after soldering.
