3D printer “for all” collected $ 1 million instead of $ 50,000 (in just 2 days) on Kickstarter
On Habré already several times published articles from the owners of 3D-printers. Many owners complained about the complexity of setting up such a device, and a couple of authors even regretted that they had purchased this device for home use. Actually, the problem of many models of modern 3D printers is the difficulty in setting up, plus a very intricate software. Not all models have a similar situation, but many.
But it seems like a 3D printer appeared, which is devoid of such shortcomings. Developers profess the principle of "works out of the box", in any case, they call their printer "the first truly consumer 3D printer." Perhaps there is something in it, because at Kickstarter this project has collected (at the time of writing the news) a million dollars with kopecks instead of the 50,000 that were planned from the very beginning. The developer of the device is the company M3D, and the printer itself is called “The Micro”. As mentioned above, everything is done in this device so that even an inexperienced user can immediately “start” the device. Calibration is automatic here, level setting is also done automatically.
In addition, the printer can work with ABS, PLA, nylon and some other materials. The stated positioning accuracy is 15 microns in X and Y.
In addition, the developers have made some more innovative solutions that, according to them, make the printer special. Some of the solutions also contain the proud word “most” in the description:
1. The most "rational" in terms of the use of useful space; 2. Light (about a kilogram) and small; 3. Automatic leveling and calibration system; 4. The most silent 3D printer; 5. The most energy efficient; 6. The design uses carbon; 7. Ceramic heater for quick heating of the working head; 8. You can choose several colors: silver, black, blue, orange, green; 9. Uses new materials for work; 10. Different substrates can be used for different materials; 11. Manufactured and tested in the USA; 12. The ABS backing allows you to “print” larger ABS parts;
In addition, the developers claim that the software developed for the printer is as user-friendly as possible, and it is easier to use than ever.
As for the price, the Kickstarter campaign is still active, and you can become a participant in the project, having received a printer for just $ 299. A few days ago it was possible to issue a pre-order for as little as $ 200 of a “contribution”.
The campaign will be completed on May 7, production will begin in August-September of this year, and the first printers will go to the new owners in February 2015.
