Last December, the USB Implementers Forum organization (USB-IF)
announced the creation of a completely new type of USB connectors - type C. The final specification will be approved in the middle of this year, but at IDF 2014, which was held from April 2nd to 4th , Intel has already
presented a sketch and the first characteristics of the new connector.

USB type C connector will be incompatible with previous standards - it had to go to this in order to achieve very impressive performance. This connector is conceived as universal and in fact the only one needed to connect any device - from displays and high-resolution monitors to smartphones.
It will support data transfer rates of up to 10 gigabits per second using the USB 3.1 Gen2 standard. Its physical dimensions are 8.3 by 2.5 mm, about the same as USB 2.0 micro-B or proprietary Apple Lightning, which will allow it to easily fit in even the most portable devices. At the same time, it supports the standard
USB power delivery , which provides loads of up to 100 watts. It can withstand up to 10,000 connection-disconnect cycles, as well as a Micro USB connector.

One of the most tangible for the end user qualities - the connector can be inserted by any side, and the cable - by any end. Now the USB cable can be inserted without looking, without fear of breaking it or the socket.
