We have interesting news about our platform for entry-level smartphones Nokia Asha - today it became known about the release of a large update.
')
It will affect the second generation of Asha smartphones, namely the Nokia Asha 500, 501, 502, 503 and 230 models and will include both new features and significant reworking of existing ones. All the details under the cut.
Nokia MixRadio
Like the "older" smartphones from the Nokia X and Nokia Lumia lines, the Asha lineup gained access to Nokia MixRadio's proprietary streaming music service.
For reference: this service provides both shareware and paid (with advanced features) access to a large library of licensed music, which includes millions of tracks in various directions and a variety of playlists. The service will be available for Asha 50x smartphones.
Users will be able to create their own mixes based on information about their favorite artists.
The mixes will be available both online with an Internet connection (for reasons of economy, Wi-Fi is preferred) and offline, saving them to a smartphone beforehand.
Improved camera
Thanks to the update, the Asha camera will also be better.
As Asha models for the sake of cost reduction were deprived of the front camera, and the whole world was obsessed with "selfie", the developers introduced the function of voice prompts to help correctly position the smartphone when shooting self portraits on the main camera.
For those who like to take widescreen images of the area, the function of shooting panoramas was added to the Camera application. Also, the video quality has improved, thanks to improvements that have touched on software image stabilization.
Cloud Services
Among the nice features of the April update for Nokia Asha is integration with Microsoft services, namely the ability to automatically and manually download content to the Microsoft OneDrive storage. Each user will have access to free 7 GB of cloud space right now - a good increase for the internal space of the smartphone.
Fastlane
With the update, Fastlane's latest events screen has been improved. Now, in addition to recent actions, reminders from the calendar, recently launched applications, photos on the event screen, actions from Twitter and Facebook will appear, as well as reminders of friends' birthdays.
Parental control
This feature is useful to those users who buy Nokia Asha for their children or parents of age. Using a special password or PIN-code, you can control access to the browser and store, preventing unwanted downloads and excessive consumption of traffic.
Updating smartphones will be made "by air" for free. The update will receive the Nokia Asha 500, 501, 502, 503 or 230, versions with one and two SIM-cards.
