With pleasure I read Habr. Smart and mature modern people are gathering more and more often. It has long been noted that programmers have a special mindset similar to many Buddhists. Therefore, I want to introduce you to my Lama. It may be interesting for you.
Lecture by Lama Ole Nidal of "Buddhism Today"
What possibilities did the Buddha show us, so that we could break into established hard ideas and come to realize the mind as a vast space and unlimited joy? How can a modern person use all events and sensations for spiritual development? Lama Ole will be happy to tell you about this. The style of his lectures is distinguished by humor, freshness and availability of the transmission of age-old Buddhist knowledge and experience.

Buddhism explains, based on the actual circumstances of life, what is true and what is only conditional. Understanding this makes it possible to experience permanent happiness. With meditation, the understandable becomes intellectually one’s own experience. Buddhism knows no dogma and is open to any questions. Skillful methods allow you to reach higher levels of awareness. The goal of the Buddha’s teachings is to fully develop the capabilities inherent in body, speech and mind.
From myself I will add that the practical methods of Buddhism, which Ole Nydahl talks about, are not burdened with traditionalism and rituals and allow you to effectively organize the inner and the surrounding world, unleash your own potential, become more useful to others, and use every second, every situation of the surrounding space to improve of your mind.
Lama Ole Nydahl is one of the few Western people (Ole Nydahl - Dane), who has the full qualification of Lama and the Karma Kagyu Buddhist meditation teacher. In 1969, Ole Nydahl and his wife Hannah became the first Western students of His Holiness XVI Gyalwa Karmapa. For three years, Ole Nydahl studied Buddhist philosophy and underwent intensive meditation training. After completing his studies, at the request of Karmapa, he began to teach Buddhism in Europe. Since then, Lama Ole continuously transmits the teachings of the Buddha - lectures and conducts meditation courses around the world,
almost every day in a new city.
Lama Ole:
“My recipe is simple: tell people about the need to find something that can lead them through illness, aging and death, and not be afraid to give them the light of the joy of life. To tell people that the mind is like space: open, clear and limitless, and tell them both about the path and the goal. ”
“The world only becomes beautiful when we do something for others. The only true feelings, unchanging and timeless, are fearlessness, joy, and genuine compassion. If we could see how everything is in reality, we would understand that every atom vibrates with joy and is sealed with love, that every situation is fresh and new. ”
