Hi, Habr!
During my habrazhizni I managed to write the
history of smart watches , the
history of heart rate monitors , described the types of
wearable devices in sports and medicine . And at the same time I have never used such wearable devices myself - on my hand most of my life had been a Flying Aviator watch.
I decided to correct the situation with the help of a classic device, first demonstrated at CES 2012. Two years have passed, but it has not lost relevance - and the trend itself has become more popular. This is
Basis B1 .

So many pieces of iron! And all for the sake of tearing the ass from the chair.
Homoluden
I wonder how many man hours spent in a sitting position, so that we can force ourselves to get out of the same position for a while?
Equipment
The gadget comes in a nice cubic box with a cover. On the box - detailed characteristics of the device and information about its capabilities.

Hours lie in a cardboard cradle inside the box. Under the cradle is a USB cable with a dock for watches, which you must wear on them to connect to a computer for charging or synchronization.

Also in the box includes a warranty card and instruction manual, consisting of one accordion-folded leaf. This is quite enough - because the most interesting is waiting for you on the Basis website.

Design
The design is low-key. I got a test version with black rubber straps. The belt is pleasant to the touch, and the fastener is difficult to unfasten. Even if desired. But it is unlikely she will fly at the most inopportune moment.

On the front side there is a monochrome display that shows the standby time, battery charge level and Bluetooth on. The silver touch button on the top left of the display is responsible for the backlight; when you press the bottom, you can see the date and day of the week, the two buttons on the right allow you to scroll through the menu between the pulse, the number of calories burned, the steps taken and the time during which you were active this day.

Huge button on the right - to sync via Bluetooth.
Heart rate monitor
Pulse is measured by the standard wrist radiography. I did not have time to “catch” the beam and take a picture of it.
Pulse is measured once per minute and slightly scrolls - in the smaller direction.

Display
Monochrome LCD display with a diagonal of 1 inch is not very bright. Of course, it shows all the necessary information, but no more.
The backlight is weak, but it can turn on automatically - it is worth raising your hand and turning the clock towards yourself. Also, the left upper button on the front side of the gadget is responsible for the backlight.
The display shows most of the data collected, except for body temperature and information about your sleep.
Battery
The device works without recharging with Bluetooth on for three to four days; when you turn off synchronization, the time will increase to five to six days.
What can they do?
The main thing for which this gadget is needed is to monitor the host's health. Of course, the software shows all sorts of figures, graphics, and other beautiful things, but you need to be able to use these. The device is able to measure the pulse, count the steps, understand when, how much you sleep and in what phase, and also approximately count the number of calories burned. The watch transmits information via a USB dock, or via Bluetooth to a smartphone, from where everything enters the “cloud” for further calculations.
Feature listTime and date. The device, oddly enough, can still show the time and date.
Pedometer. The gadget considers steps and is able to distinguish when you just walk, and when you run. It turned out, I run very often - I did not notice it.
Pulsometer. Measures pulse once a minute - therefore unsuitable for use in the hall. However, it is quite capable of helping you figure out how your heartbeat changed during the day and during which activity.
Calorie Counter. B1 automatically calculates the number of calories you have burned for the current day in real time based on your activity and the data entered (height, weight, age).
Sleep tracker The device calculates your sleep: how much you sleep in a certain phase, whether you wake up at night, get up to drink or use the toilet, and builds a graph based on the collected data.
Body temperature.Moisture skin. The time on the clock can not be set, it can be done only through synchronization. You can also choose a 12 or 24 hour system.

Web interface
First of all, to use the watch, it is necessary to charge it with a wire with a dock that comes in the kit. While they are charging, register on basis.com/go. Registration will make connecting to Facebook easier. The web interface is intuitive and shouldn't be any difficult.

When you first use it is necessary to enter all the data - weight, height, age. This will allow you to correctly calculate calories.

Gameplay
Game-making is perhaps the most interesting thing about this device and its software ... You add Habits - habits. The more points you get when you reach your goals — for example, walking 10,000 steps a day — the more habits you can add. A good incentive to burn more calories and increase overall activity.
The watch must be worn constantly, otherwise there will be no results.
In the web interface you can view the data collected per day.

By “permanent,” I mean even night and sleep. After all, the functional allows you to collect data about a dream and build a convenient schedule.

Unfortunately, the watch does not notify you about anything, you have to use a smartphone for this purpose. What really is missing is an alarm clock.

Android app
Synchronization with the "cloud" is possible via Bluetooth.
The application is convenient, allows you to view all the necessary information on the activity. Initial setup involves data entry such as weight, age, and other things. But only if you have not entered all this information when registering on the site.

Activity is displayed in this form.

List of functions available in the menu. Your “habits” and collected data are available from your smartphone.

Height-weight-other parameters can be entered from a smartphone. It is useful if you follow the weight and periodically weigh yourself in the same gym - otherwise you may forget the result on your way home.

It is necessary to approach the input of parameters with full responsibility, otherwise the data will be less accurate.
Total
Unfortunately, the design of the device strongly disappoint. They look like a Chinese toy. The accuracy of calculations has some limitations: the pulse, for example, is measured only once a minute and with some error. This error will increase if the owner of the watch has increased hairiness on the hands.
The Android app and web interface can only be remembered with good words. Services are convenient, allow you to find out all the information for a certain day, look at the schedule of sleep, pulse and activity.
In the gym, the gadget will be useless, but in the "field" conditions, it will force you to tear off the soft spot from the chair and walk more due to the successful gaming of the process.
If you are interested in testing the Basis B1 in real conditions, you can
buy it for 7990 rubles. It is interesting:
