The existing rating system in the form of karma is present not only at Habrahabr - now, at the time of the boom of social networks and the exponential growth in the number of Habra-like startups, only the lazy one has not launched its service, which always has buttons with a plus / minus image (up and down arrows - as an option ). But does such a system respond to the realities of today? More precisely, is it adequate to characterize the user with a single parameter?
Suppose I am a young
IT specialist who specializes in the products of the remarkable
Microsoft company. I publish articles, adequately comment on other posts related to this topic - and, as a result, I have good positive karma, I mean, my authority on the resource is quite high. But what can I say, for example, about nix, if I have never seen them before, but heard from friends - MS fans that nix is complete garbage? .. And here I am, an authoritative user of the resource, in the belief that nix is bullshit, climb with my opinion to where I am not competent. But the authority of my hoo! Somehow weird turns out.
And what prevents us from doing a whole bunch of different karmas instead of one karma? Hardware, software development, design, SEO, and a bunch of any ratings that will allow you to clearly determine in which area I am competent, and in which - lamer lamer? .. On a large social. resource, we can further expand this list - let there be parameters "misanthrope", "evening-time", "prankster", "macho", "figacho", something else. The growth / reduction of these parameters will depend on the rating of the person who voted, and in the system of collective blogs, for example, on publications in thematic blogs.
Thus, the growth of the authority of the user on the resource will resemble the process of pumping the character to RPG, which is much more interesting and exciting than worrying about every bit of abstract karma, which, in general, does not speak about anything concrete.
Not a bit surprised if the idea is not new, and even somewhere already implemented, because it lies on the surface. But, at least, I have not seen anything like it.
