The founder and CEO of Linden Lab, the creator of the cyberpunk virtual universe Second Life Philip Rosedale (Philip Rosedale), leaves the post of head of the company, which he himself
announced in a corporate blog. In fact, he admitted that now he is no longer coping with the functions of a top manager of such a large company as Linden Labs has turned into, all the more so since the director’s duties include almost exclusively management and work with personnel. His work functions are now virtually unrelated to the development and development of an alternate reality. But this is precisely what Philip wanted to devote his life to. Now he will occupy the position of project manager and will be able to tackle his favorite child more closely. Perhaps on the streets of SL his avatar will now appear more often.

Computer geek and talented programmer Philip Rosdale personally assembled his first computer in fourth grade, and opened the first computer company as a high school student. Prior to founding Linden Labs, he served as vice president and technical director of RealNetworks.
Second Life is a unique project, but so far it has not fully realized its commercial potential. It cannot even be closely compared, for example, with World of Warcraft in terms of financial flows. Of the 13 million registered users, only a small proportion regularly use their account: their number stably remains at around
550,000 people per month .

Rosdale's comrades were aware of the fact that sooner or later Philip would leave the leadership post. By all accounts, this is the typical fate of technology startups. Now the owners of the company are in search of a new leader who is more experienced in matters of management and operational work.
