Festo has created a new type of wind generator.

When someone says the word "wind generator" or we read about "wind farms", huge columns with blades are immediately introduced. Now a similar design - the standard for wind turbines. In general, all is well, except that wind generators of this type do not use the wind very effectively.

And the company Festo, previously developed a robot-gull and a dragonfly robot, proposed a new version of the wind generator. According to the developers of Festo, the new wind turbine uses the wind more efficiently, generating, respectively, more energy. The project was named DualWingGenerator.

The secret is in the design of the device, where some things invented by nature are used. For example, the blades of a new generator have a bird wing profile (well, or an airplane wing profile, this statement will also be true).



In this case, the generator optimizes its work automatically, adapting to almost any direction of movement of air masses and to any speed of movement of air.
