Although, of course, for the time being, people treat such things with understandable skepticism: now it flies and takes pictures, and in the next second, maybe it will start shooting unwanted people? And in general, you never know who controls them there. ')
What can be done with such an image?
Sergey Lupashin, the author of the Fotokite project, says this: "Add a string to the robot - and now you have almost a pet."
Photocopters Lupashina - GoPro camera, parts printed on a 3D-printer, and the usual leash. The first such concept was evaluated by the BBC, and Lupashin himself works within the framework of the TED Fellows program, which unites creative people and inventors all over the world.
In an interview with TED, the author also noted that the leash can serve as something like a dynamic tripod, and it becomes much easier to control such a device.
Photocopter algorithms memorize the launch path and the shooting target. We talked with Lupashin, going down the escalator, and one of them just flew nearby, constantly adjusting our height and keeping at the level of our faces. What can be useful for such a device? First, of course, to create news reports; for shooting weddings and parties; for the organization of search and rescue and intelligence in scientific expeditions. And although so far specialized devices for the MES are not widely used, the ease of use of photocopters suggests their usefulness in localizing and preventing a wide variety of incidents.
Lupashin noted that some restrictions imposed on unmanned aerial vehicles, will not apply to photocopters and similar "powered" devices.
Of course, so far this is all far from free selling - even the author himself doesn’t really represent a distribution model. The project is currently funded by grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation and hopes for fundraising through AngelList.
And, of course, Raffaello D'Andrea’s performance, under the leadership of which Sergei Lupashin works in Zurich.
