TellSpec: determine the ingredients of the dish, calories and everything else in 3 minutes
Honestly, when I saw the news about the food analyzer, which is able to determine the composition of the dish, as well as determine the caloric content of the dish on the fly, I thought that this is one of the design concepts that appear in the set literally every day and quickly disappear from the field view.
But no, TellSpec is a serious company from Canada, which is really working on a new technology that allows determining the calorie content of a dish, as well as determining the composition of the dish. TellSpec team has been working on its project for more than a year. ')
Today on Habré already published the news about the system that uses spectroscopy to determine the composition of the blood. Here we see something similar, only direct contact with the dish is not required.
Here is a video demonstrating the work of the prototype:
The operation of the system consists in emitting light waves, receiving reflected radiation, and carrying out spectroscopic analysis by means of appropriate software. Data processing is performed in the "cloud", from where the processed data is received already on the user's smartphone, with the output of visual information: the components of the dish and its caloric content.
Ideally, the company sees its project as a small device that is placed on a regular keychain, compatible with mobile devices based on Android and iOS.
Now you can pre-order the device (its price is $ 320), the price also includes the annual subscription to the data processing service. Subscription will then have to be renewed - either 7.99 US dollars per month, or 69.99 per year. Charging analyzer via USB.
