As a continuation of the
topic of Comrade
M_org on the optimization of Vista. Three more points of critical importance for me, which visually noticeably improved performance.
1. Disable System Restore (system restore). The thing is certainly good, but as is the case with the firewall, it is better to use third-party programs, and to disable the built-in program, it eats a lot of resources.
Right click on the “Computer” shortcut → Properties → Additional system parameters → the “System protection” tab → remove all checkboxes.2. Disable performance monitoring. In Vista (as well as in the previous 2000 / XP) there is a built-in mechanism for logging various system parameters, which is wasting resources and is used by a very small percentage of users. Unfortunately, the standard tools do not disable it, but MS has a special utility for this. The result after switching off is noticeable to the naked eye.
We download the utility , install, run. Select each counter in the Extensible Performance Counters list one by one and remove the Performance Counters Enabled checkbox. Reboot.')
3. Increasing the priority of active processes over the background. There is an important key in the registry that determines how much active applications are allocated to the CPU time more than the background. By default, it is equal to 2, I would advise you to put 6, although you can play. The result is significant.
regedit → HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ PriorityControl → increase the value of the Win32PrioritySeparation key.Yes, and by the way, UAC is disabled much easier and without MSK:
Control Panel → Accounts → Disable User Account ControlPS It's time to start a separate blog for habravvik :)
