A single charger for all mobile devices: in the EU adopted a new law

The " Radio Equipment Directive " bill sets several goals in the area of ​​"radio equipment". So, this is an increase in the level of safety of equipment for users, a decrease in the probability of the influence of various types of equipment on each other, as well as a decrease in the amount of "electronic garbage" when obsolete devices and accessories for them are massively disposed of.

For example, in Europe alone, 51 thousand tons of electronic waste is generated annually. So, one of the reasons leading to the formation of literally artificial mountains from chargers is different types of charging. I think everyone in the house has 5-10 charges for different devices, and most of these chargers do not fit each other. The Samsung tablet adapter doesn’t fit the HTC mobile phone, and the Apple charger ... well, it’s not suitable for anything at all, except for “native” devices.

In general, the bill mentioned above was adopted in the EU by 550 votes to 12. It remains only to officially sign the law (unofficially this has already been done), and by 2016 all chargers for European mobile devices will be suitable for any of the models any manufacturer. And yes, the Micro USB connector is selected as the standard.
