Internet users in China can again use the services of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia . Access to it was open more than a year after the authorities decided to ban people from viewing its materials.
However, in the Chinese version of Wikipedia , there are still no articles devoted to "inconvenient" issues for the authorities. Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China say that they have never heard anything about blocking access to the resource, but found it necessary to boast: 123 million people use the Internet in the country, reports Reuters .
According to Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, the opening of access to the encyclopedia is one of the few cases when the Chinese government made concessions in relation to a foreign company.
