The
post about the anniversary GSoC 2014 imperceptibly flashed, and our PostgreSQL project was again
among the participants . I must say that if there is a big competition for many other projects, we cannot boast about it. Whether this was due to the high threshold of entry and the complexity of the project or the campaign that was not actively pursued, we even had to return unused slots, since there were no worthy candidates for them. As a mentor, I cannot give out information on the number and composition of applications, I will only say that the situation saddens me even more than in previous years.
But let's look at the situation from the positive side. There are 4 more days to submit a proposal and any worthy project has every chance to pass! Choose any of the topics suggested on the
wiki , or offer your idea and
go ahead : an interesting project and $ 5500 are waiting for you! In addition, for the last 3 years, students were waited by another tasty bonus: SPI paid all GSoC students of our project to participate in one international conference; most likely this pleasant tradition will continue.
PS If you are a talented student with a good idea but are having difficulty writing a proposal, you can write to me in PM.
PPS Graduate students in all international standards are also students and can participate in GSoC.
