The Chinese lunar rover “Yuytu” successfully “woke up” after the third moon night

Despite the fact that some experts predicted the final “freezing” of the Chinese lunar rover after the third moonlit night (when the temperature of the lunar surface drops to -180 degrees Celsius), Yuyt awoke and gave a signal to Earth.

Nevertheless, he has the same problems: the moon rover cannot stack the mast antenna and its solar batteries in a box, where the equipment is heated by a isotopic element during a moonlit night. The temperature inside the box still drops to minus forty degrees Celsius, but the equipment of the lunar rover is able to withstand such temperature.

Unfortunately, it is not completely clear what exactly led to the breakdown of the unit responsible for folding the parts of the Lunokhod. This problem has been studied by Chinese experts for several weeks, but they are not yet able to solve it.

Nevertheless, the landing module "Chang'e-3", which functions normally, and the lunar rover itself, to the best of its capabilities, continue to carry out the planned lunar program. The module was landed on the lunar surface on December 14th last year.

According to the project, the service life of the landing module should be one year, the moon rover - 3 months.
