Robot playing table tennis well: development from Germany

Let me remind you that today, on March 11, there is a table tennis competition between a robot and a man ( Timo Boll is a repeated champion of various competitions).

While we are waiting for the results of this competition, evaluate the game of another robot created by the forces of a German engineer. The robot was named UHTTR-1, it looks quite good - no multi-kilogram structures, only cameras, a manipulator with a mobile chassis and the corresponding software.

Unfortunately, the robot does not know how to attack, it plays in the passive mode. He, too, has not been trained yet, but he beats off serious blows. Actually, this robot can be used as a rival for training and competition with entry-level players.

By the way, this is not a project of the day off, Ul Hoffman, that is the name of an engineer, he developed his robot for two whole years.

Among other things, the software created to control the robot allows the device to self-learn, and the creator of UHTTR-1 is now working with might and main on the strategy of an “attacking robot”. Well, what the robot already knows how to do is in front of you:

But the new video from Kuka, the company whose robot is fighting today with Timo Boll. Robot skills are impressive, right?
