A resident of Surgut faces 4 years in prison for buying watches allegedly Samsung Gear in an online store in China.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the defendant violated Part 3 of Art. 30 - 1 of Art. 138 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt on the illicit trafficking of special technical equipment intended for secretly obtaining information). ')
The press service of the prosecutor's office of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra reports:
The investigation established that a young man in May 2013, while in the city of Surgut, ordered in China via the Internet an electronic mechanical watch with a built-in video camera. Legislation and iT-business
In my opinion, this post does not relate to the topic of this blog, due to the fact that no new laws on the article due to which the defendant decided to accuse did not appear recently
The main purpose of the post - to warn future owners of smart watches that it may not be legal in this country
Please note that it is not known exactly which watch is being referred to, Gears or any other.
I suggest everyone here to think about the thin line that is allowed from wearable electronics with a camera, and what is not, it is already clear that the next years will bring us a huge amount of wearable electronics that can fall under the laws: Google Glass, Any other smart watches.
