The official Linux Foundation Introduction to Linux course, which previously cost $ 2,400, will be available for free on the EdX online learning platform. You can sign up for the course now. The EdX Mass Online Education Platform was created by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology together with Harvard University. More than 30 universities are represented on it. Now the Linux Foundation will become the official partner of EdX. The course is assigned the code LFS101x . It is designed for 40 - 60 hours of training. Classes will begin in the 3rd quarter of 2014.

If the first experience is successful, the Linux Foundation is about to publish other, more advanced courses. According to the report on the state of the Linux labor market for 2014, the need for specialists in this operating system is growing rapidly - today, Linux works literally everywhere - from supercomputers to home appliances, and already dominates the mobile market at the expense of Android. According to Jennifer Kloer, director of the Linux Foundation's public relations, 2,500 people have already signed up for the course in the first 24 hours after opening the registration.
