Stanislav Lem's worst predictions come true
I have no doubt that almost everyone present here read the works of the great Polish science fiction writer Stanislav Lem. Among others, he has one very good book, which is called the "Futurological Congress." It is, I remind you, that it is about the future, the cloudless picture of which is synthesized under the action of various psychotropic substances absorbed by man along with water, food and air. Thus, the stinky soup in the eyes of man turned into a chic five-course dinner, a wooden bench into a beautiful interior. One way or another, but mankind has come to this.
And now, thanks to a note on RBC, I understood exactly how:

Drinking water in the urban areas of the United States contains a wide range of pharmaceutical ingredients, including antibiotics, antidepressants and sex hormones.

A five-month study, organized by the Associated Press, showed that the presence of pharmaceutical substances was recorded in all drinking water samples from the 24 largest US agglomerations, from South Carolina to New Jersey.

"The content in the water of such a wide range of medicinal substances belonging to the category of prescription, strengthens the concern of scientists about the long-term effects on human health," - is the study.

Despite the fact that samples of American drinking water showed that these substances are presented in small doses, that is, they are not capable of causing addiction in an individual, scientists and representatives of the US health care call for increased attention to this problem.

In the book it all started about the same:

WATER FROM THE CRANE! Yes Yes. After it all began. Something in her was! Poison? But does the poison really happen, which ... But by the way, just a minute ... After all, I am a regular subscriber of scientific journals and recently read in the Science News about new psychotropic drugs from the group of so-called stress traffickers. They cause gratuitous glee and complacency. Well, of course! This note stood before my eyes. Hedonidol, philanthropine, lubinil, euphorizol, felicitol, altruisan and darkness-darkness derivatives!
