The post office of St. Petersburg has opened an online store
shoppost.ru and plans to become one of the key players in the e-commerce market,
Kommersant reports. Sold in the online store, mainly spare parts for domestic cars, but there are stamps with envelopes.
The press service of the Federal Postal Service (UFPS) of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast reports that the post has long been engaged in trade, selling all sorts of goods in its branches, right up to macaroni. According to Igor Samylin, general director of the St. Petersburg UFPS, the proceeds from this activity amount to about 50 million rubles per quarter. Now, apparently, mail is developing a niche of Internet commerce.
