Video banned on YouTube due to the 5-second presence of the actress

A strange story happened with the movie “The Innocence of Muslims” on YouTube. We will not discuss the aesthetic values ​​of the film, the legal aspect of the issue is interesting here.

The American court confirmed that the actress, who appears for 5 seconds in the frame in the 13th minute of the film, has the right to demand that a fragment with her participation be cut out. The court decided to remove all copies of the video from all hosting sites, including YouTube.



Shortly after such a judgment was made, lawyers of the Electronic Frontier Foundation advised Google to draw a special screensaver for such cases: they say, the video is not available due to the completely ridiculous court decision (see above).

The very icon of the sad face of YouTube in this case is quite expressive, so that people would understand the meaning. But historically, on YouTube, it has been decided not to express too clearly the reasons for deleting videos, so Google has adopted a more neutral wording .



They say that the American court made such a decision about a 5-second fragment, but we strongly disagree with it, and we will appeal it.
